INFO

Fabric is one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic nightclubs, situated in the heart of Farringdon, London. Opened in 1999 by Keith Reilly and Cameron Leslie, the club quickly rose to prominence as a bastion of electronic music culture, renowned for its innovative sound system and unique approach to clubbing. The site itself, a former Victorian meat cellar, was extensively renovated to house the club’s three distinct rooms, each offering a different musical experience.
A key structural feature of Fabric is the “bodysonic” dance floor in Room One, which vibrates in response to the music, creating a fully immersive experience for revelers. Throughout its history, Fabric has maintained a reputation for championing underground music, especially genres such as techno, house, drum and bass, and dubstep. Its unwavering commitment to musical integrity and quality has garnered it global acclaim and numerous awards, including repeated entries in DJ Mag’s “Top 100 Clubs” list.
The club faced significant challenges, most notably in 2016 when it was forced to temporarily close following the revocation of its license. This event sparked a nationwide debate about the future of nightlife in the UK and led to widespread public support; after a successful campaign and negotiations with local authorities, Fabric reopened later that year with enhanced security measures. Despite changes and legal hurdles, the original location has remained intact, preserving its distinctive labyrinthine structure and industrial aesthetic.
Fabric continues to shape and reflect London’s nightlife, staying at the cutting edge of sound, production, and curation, and playing a crucial role in supporting both established and emerging talent in the dance music scene. Notable artists who have performed at Fabric over the years include international stars such as Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz, Seth Troxler, and Aphex Twin, alongside local legends like Ben UFO, Craig Richards, Skream, Goldie, Andy C, DJ Hype, and Bicep. The club’s forward-thinking booking policy has also helped launch the careers of artists like Floating Points, Daniel Avery, and Maya Jane Coles, ensuring that fabric remains a central force in shaping the sound and direction of electronic music both in the UK and worldwide.
