Alex Wilcox

Alex Wilcox is a multidisciplinary artist whose evocative work bridges the realms of painting, sculpture, and installation. Born in 1987 in Portland, Oregon, Wilcox developed a passion for the visual arts at an early age, drawing inspiration from the rich landscapes and progressive culture of the Pacific Northwest. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and later an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Wilcox’s practice expanded to include immersive sculptural environments and socially engaged public art projects.

Known for a dynamic use of color, organic forms, and found materials, Wilcox’s art reflects deep engagement with themes of ecology, memory, and human resilience. Exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States and Europe, their work has been featured in publications such as Artforum, Hyperallergic, and Sculpture Magazine. In addition to their studio practice, Wilcox is an active educator and advocate for arts accessibility, partnering with community organizations to bring creative workshops to underserved neighborhoods.

Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, Alex Wilcox continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art by exploring the intersection of materiality, narrative, and collective experience.
