Portrait of Jacques Lu Cont

Jacques Lu Cont

Jacques Lu Cont is the pseudonym of British electronic music producer, DJ, and songwriter Stuart Price, renowned for his influential work in the evolution of contemporary dance music. Emerging from Reading, England, Price adopted the Jacques Lu Cont persona in the late 1990s, initially fronting the electro-pop band Les Rythmes Digitales, whose breakthrough album "Darkdancer" is considered a cornerstone of the nu-disco and electroclash movements. As Jacques Lu Cont, Price gained acclaim for his innovative productions, remixes, and DJ sets, blending infectious grooves with clever, retro-inspired synth programming.

Over the years, his impressive repertoire has included remixes for Madonna, The Killers, Depeche Mode, and New Order, and his studio wizardry led him to collaborate directly with major pop acts, shaping the sound of albums such as Madonna’s "Confessions on a Dance Floor" and The Killers’ "Day & Age." His ability to bridge the worlds of pop and underground dance music, coupled with a distinctively energetic live presence, has established Jacques Lu Cont as a pioneering figure in global electronic music, earning him multiple Grammy Awards and a lasting reputation as one of the UK’s foremost sonic auteurs.
