Darone Sassounian

Darone Sassounian is a Los Angeles-based visual artist whose work explores themes of identity, cultural memory, and transformation through a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates painting, sculpture, and installation. Drawing from his Armenian heritage and the rich visual traditions of both the Middle East and California, Sassounian creates immersive environments and striking images that reflect personal and collective histories. He earned his MFA from the Yale School of Art and has exhibited nationally and internationally, including solo and group shows at venues such as The Mistake Room, François Ghebaly Gallery, and galleries in Berlin and Beirut.

Sassounian’s work is characterized by bold color, layered textures, and a nuanced engagement with both abstract and representational forms. His practice not only interrogates the complexities of diasporic experience but also seeks to generate new spaces for contemplation and dialogue.
