Subcultures

Subcultures is the collaborative project of artists Jordan Lee and Amira Patel, whose work explores the margins where cultural narratives intersect, overlap, and transform. Drawing inspiration from underground music scenes, street fashion, and global diasporic movements, Subcultures crafts dynamic installations, mixed-media works, and digital environments that challenge mainstream definitions of identity and belonging. Since forming their partnership in 2018, the duo has exhibited internationally, engaging audiences through immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between art, activism, and everyday life.

Their projects often incorporate archival materials, found objects, and community workshops, inviting participants to reflect on the politics of representation and the fluidity of social boundaries. Subcultures’ practice is rooted in dialogue, continually seeking new collaborations and platforms to amplify voices that are often marginalized or overlooked in contemporary culture.
