Jenifa Mayanja is a Ugandan-born, Connecticut-based musician, DJ, producer, and label owner who has carved a singular niche in the global underground electronic music scene. With a career spanning over two decades, Mayanja's deep and soulful approach to house music is rooted in her early engagement with the vibrant sounds of New York City’s nightlife after emigrating to the United States. Her sonic palette is informed by her multicultural background and broad musical influences, melding African rhythms, jazz, and experimental elements with the hypnotic grooves of deep house.

As the founder of Bu-Mako Recordings, co-founder of the seminal underground label Sound Warrior alongside Dakini9, and a key member of the all-women DJ collective Womantory, Mayanja has been a tireless advocate for underrepresented voices and gender inclusivity in electronic music.
