Dego

Born and raised in London, Dego (Dennis McFarlane) is a highly influential figure in the evolution of UK electronic music, particularly within the broken beat, drum and bass, and soul scenes. As one half of 4hero alongside Marc Mac, Dego’s work in the early '90s helped to pioneer new directions in jungle and drum and bass, fusing complex rhythms with lush orchestration and forward-thinking production. His solo work and collaboration with Kaidi Tatham as part of 2000Black have further solidified his reputation for innovation, blending jazz, funk, soul, and electronic sounds into a unique and recognizable style.

Outside of 4hero and 2000Black, Dego's extensive discography includes releases on respected labels like Reinforced, Talkin’ Loud, and Eglo Records. He is credited as a key architect of the West London “broken beat” movement, known for its syncopated rhythms and boundary-pushing approach to dance music. Through his collaborative mindset and dedication to musical growth, Dego has mentored and influenced multiple generations of producers and artists, always prioritizing both groove and musicality.
