JO-EL

JO-EL is a multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant works traverse the boundaries between painting, mixed media, and installation. Born in Baltimore and now based in Los Angeles, JO-EL draws from personal memory, urban landscapes, and dreams to create immersive visual experiences that blend abstract expressionism with elements of street art and collage. Their art is characterized by bold color palettes, energetic gesture, and the recurrent use of symbolism to explore themes of identity, resilience, and transformation.

With a background in both fine art and graphic design, JO-EL’s pieces often incorporate found materials and layered textures, inviting viewers to contemplate the interplay of chaos and harmony. Since their debut in 2017, JO-EL has exhibited in solo and group shows nationally, earned residencies in New York and Berlin, and collaborated with community organizations to support youth art initiatives.
