Gert

Gert is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersection of abstraction and narrative through a dynamic use of color, texture, and form. Born in 1987 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Gert developed a deep fascination for visual storytelling from an early age, inspired by the vibrant urban landscape and the evolving art scene of his hometown. After studying Fine Arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy, Gert began exhibiting in local galleries, quickly gaining recognition for paintings and mixed media pieces that blur the boundaries between figuration and abstraction.

His practice is driven by an acute sensitivity to everyday moments, reimagined through expressive brushwork, layered surfaces, and a distinctive palette. Gert’s art has been featured in group and solo exhibitions across Europe, including stints in Berlin, Paris, and London, and has been acquired by several private and public collections. Through continual experimentation and collaboration, Gert seeks to evoke emotion and contemplation, inviting audiences to discover new narratives within each piece.

Currently based in Antwerp, Gert continues to evolve his practice, pushing the limits of materiality and visual expression.
