Aynaet

Aynaet, an emerging contemporary artist known for her evocative mixed media works, was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Her art weaves together the rich visual heritage of her homeland with innovative techniques, often combining traditional Ethiopian motifs with bold gestural abstraction. Drawing inspiration from memories, oral histories, and the vibrant urban culture of Addis Ababa, Aynaet’s practice explores identity, diaspora, and the connections between place and belonging.

Since earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alle School of Fine Arts and Design, she has exhibited in group shows across Africa and Europe, steadily garnering international attention. Most recently, her solo exhibition “Traces of Home” was acclaimed for its immersive exploration of memory through textiles, paint, and found objects. Deeply engaged with her community, Aynaet also leads workshops for young artists, fostering a spirit of collaboration and cultural pride.

Her work continues to evolve, marked by a deep sensitivity to color, texture, and narrative as she reimagines what it means to be both rooted in tradition and open to change.
