Droughtwerk

Droughtwerk is an emerging multidisciplinary artist collective from Germany, known for their evocative fusion of visual and sonic landscapes that interrogate themes of environmental fragility, urban decay, and existential solitude. Founded in 2018 by collaborators Maria Lehmann and Jonas Keller, Droughtwerk draws inspiration from the stark contrasts of Germany’s industrial heartlands and its wild, regrowing natural spaces. Their work blends photography, field recordings, sculpture, and immersive installation, weaving together the tactile remnants of abandoned factories with the subtle, organic sounds of nature reclaiming its territory.

Droughtwerk’s exhibitions, often staged in unconventional locations, invite audiences to reflect on the cyclical relationship between human intervention and ecological resurgence. Their recent projects, including the acclaimed “Ruinenklang” series and collaborations with local environmental groups, demonstrate a commitment to both artistic innovation and ecological awareness, positioning Droughtwerk as a vital voice in contemporary European art.
