David Christian

David Christian is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the interplay between memory, place, and transformation through an evocative blend of painting, installation, and mixed media. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Christian developed an early fascination with the natural world which continues to shape the atmospheric sensibility of his practice. After receiving a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009, he began exhibiting nationally and internationally, earning recognition for his nuanced approach to surface, texture, and light.

Through the layering of pigment, found materials, and digital intervention, Christian constructs landscapes that teeter between abstraction and representation, inviting viewers into immersive worlds that evoke longing and introspection. His work has been featured in major group exhibitions in New York, Berlin, and Los Angeles, and he has participated in residencies including the MacDowell Colony and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, Christian continues to expand his visual language through collaborations, public art projects, and ongoing explorations of the intersection between personal histories and collective experience.
