Betty Bender is an American multidisciplinary artist whose evocative work melds the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and installation. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Bender’s early exposure to lush landscapes and eclectic city life became central themes in her artistic vision. After receiving her formal education in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, she moved to New York, where her practice evolved to balance bold abstraction with subtle natural motifs.
Over the past two decades, Bender has exhibited nationally and internationally, garnering recognition for her innovative approach to texture, color, and spatial relationships. Her art is celebrated for its emotional depth and quiet interrogation of memory, place, and belonging, and has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions as well as public and private collections. Betty Bender currently maintains her studio in Brooklyn, where she continues to explore new mediums and collaborative projects, drawing inspiration from everyday urban landscapes and the complexities of human experience.
