Info

Nestled in the vibrant district of Molenbeek, VK, also known as Vaartkapoen, has carved out a unique niche in Brussels' dynamic music scene. Established as a community centre and concert venue, VK celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2019, marking decades of commitment to underground music and emerging artists. Over the years, it has become a cultural beacon for genres often residing outside the mainstream, including reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, punk, and global music.

This dedication to diversity and innovation has cemented VK's reputation as a haven for musical exploration and expression. Though VK has remained a constant in the hearts of music lovers, it experienced a temporary change of scenery from 2019 to 2021. During this period, the venue was relocated to rue de Manchesterstraat to accommodate necessary renovations at its original location.

This move did not deter VK's vibrant programming or its loyal community of attendees, who continued to flock to its events, drawn by the promise of eclectic performances and a welcoming atmosphere. VK's stage has been graced by a roster of remarkable artists who embody the venue's pioneering spirit. Among these are Rrita Jashari, known for her electrifying sets that blend traditional and contemporary sounds, and Rebel Up, a collective celebrated for its global beats and socially conscious ethos.

The venue has also hosted the legendary Mark Ernestus, whose influence in the techno and dub scenes is unparalleled, alongside Glenn Astro, whose genre-defying productions challenge the boundaries of electronic music. Acid Arab, with their unique fusion of Middle Eastern sounds and electronic beats, have further demonstrated VK's commitment to showcasing innovative and diverse talents.
