Terminal 5 is a renowned nightclub and concert venue located at 610 West 56th Street in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The building that houses Terminal 5 has a vibrant history, originally opening in the 1980s as a club known as Club Exit, which became an infamous after-hours destination during New York’s exuberant club era. Over the years, the venue underwent various iterations and name changes, closing and reopening with different identities before being extensively renovated and rebranded as Terminal 5 in 2007 under the management of The Bowery Presents, one of New York’s leading concert promoters.
The renovation transformed the venue into a modern, state-of-the-art space with a capacity of approximately 3,000 people, spread across multiple levels, including three elevated balconies with excellent sightlines, outdoor smoking decks, and sleek bars. Terminal 5’s reputation quickly grew due to its ability to host high-caliber concerts and large-scale dance parties, positioning it as a vital hub for both the indie and mainstream music scenes in New York City. Its architectural design—an industrial, warehouse-like aesthetic—provides a raw, energetic environment that appeals to a diverse range of audiences.
Over time, the venue has become culturally significant in New York’s live music landscape, hosting events from genres as varied as electronic, alternative, hip-hop, rock, and pop. While Terminal 5 has always remained at its original location on West 56th Street, it has often been updated and upgraded to improve crowd flow, acoustics, and patron experience. This adaptability, along with its prominent booking roster, has cemented its status as a must-visit venue for both international touring acts and local up-and-comers alike.
Notable artists who have performed at Terminal 5 include LCD Soundsystem, The xx, Childish Gambino, Lana Del Rey, The National, Deadmau5, Arctic Monkeys, Kygo, Kendrick Lamar, Sufjan Stevens, Florence + The Machine, Wiz Khalifa, Interpol, Mac Miller, Passion Pit, Tyler, The Creator, St. Vincent, Of Monsters and Men, Skrillex, Run The Jewels, Lorde, ODESZA, Tame Impala, and A$AP Rocky, as well as a host of acclaimed local New York acts that span the city’s eclectic musical styles.
The capacity of Terminal 5 is 3000.
