Originally opening as a record store in 2014, Sound Metaphors quickly developed into a respected label and cultural hub, reflecting the eclectic and adventurous spirit of Berlin’s underground. The space is renowned for its deep crates of vinyl spanning disco, house, Italo, and global grooves, making it a mecca for crate-diggers and DJs from all over the world.

Its transformation into a nightclub and event space came as a natural evolution, responding to the demand for high-quality, intimate parties that focused on the music and the dancers, rather than hype. Over the years, Sound Metaphors has gained a reputation for curating nights that bring together local talent and international selectors, consistently favoring a welcoming, open-minded crowd and a no-nonsense approach to dance music. Although the core venue has always remained at Reichenberger Straße, there have been expansions and pop-up concepts, including temporary ventures in spaces like OHM and their satellite store "Mute," but the heart of the operation—audiophile listening, community energy, and genre-blurring programming—remains unchanged.

The venue is lauded not just for its sonics and selection, but for its contribution to fostering a more inclusive and diverse dancefloor culture in Berlin, championing underrepresented artists and scenes.
