Rash is a notable nightclub located in Brooklyn, New York, that has quickly established itself as a vibrant and significant space within the city’s nightlife and LGBTQ+ club scene. Opened in 2021 by queer nightlife promoters and community figures, Rash was conceived as a safe, inclusive environment focused on electronic music, dance, and the celebration of queer identity. The venue emerged at a time when the need for queer spaces was particularly pressing, both as sanctuaries from mainstream nightlife and as platforms for diverse artistic expression.
Known for its industrial yet welcoming atmosphere, Rash occupies a former laundromat on Myrtle Avenue in Bushwick, providing an intimate and gritty aesthetic while remaining accessible to a wide array of guests. Its mission prioritizes marginalized voices and centers on uplifting artists from the LGBTQ+ community, especially BIPOC creators, amplifying Rash’s cultural importance well beyond classical club offerings. Rash gained early notoriety for curating cutting-edge lineups and hosting genre-defying events that combine techno, house, experimental, and ballroom sounds.
The club rapidly built a reputation for fostering emergent talent alongside acclaimed international selectors, and for promoting safer party practices. Tragically, in November 2022, the club was the target of an arson attack that caused extensive fire damage and led to its temporary closure. The incident was widely condemned, drawing solidarity from the global nightlife community and highlighting the club’s role as a beacon of queer resilience.
Thanks to grassroots fundraising and support from patrons, Rash reopened in March 2023 after major renovations, emerging with improved safety measures and renewed commitment to its mission. Since then, Rash continues to serve as a locus for community-building and creative collision, helping cement Brooklyn’s reputation as a global epicenter for progressive club culture. Notable artists who have performed at Rash include international figures such as LSDXOXO, Avalon Emerson, Eris Drew, Juliana Huxtable, and KUNQ, as well as celebrated local DJs like BAE BAE, quest?onmarc, CHRISSY, Tygapaw, DJ SWISHA, and Jasmine Infiniti, among many others.
