INFO

Rachdingue is a legendary nightclub located near the town of Vilajuïga in the region of Alt Empordà, Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1968 by Catalan surrealist artist Evarist Vallès with guidance from Salvador Dalí, Rachdingue quickly established itself as a hub for avant-garde art, music, and countercultural nightlife. The club is housed in a renovated old stone farmhouse—a masia—giving it an atmospheric and labyrinthine interior that reflects its artistic roots and provides a unique backdrop for nightlife events.
Rachdingue’s reputation is built on its eclectic fusion of art and music, boasting striking murals, surreal décor, and installations that echo the spirit of Dalí and the local Empordà surrealist movement. Over the decades, the club grew in fame beyond its regional origins, attracting an international crowd, especially during the 1970s and 1980s when it became a pilgrimage site for artists, musicians, and free spirits from across Europe. Despite the rise and fall of club trends, Rachdingue maintained its steadfast commitment to creativity and artistic freedom, sometimes closing for periods or modifying its event calendar but always reopening with renewed vigor.
While its structure has remained relatively unchanged, preserving the charm and mystery of the original masia, the sound and lighting systems have been upgraded to match the evolving demands of cutting-edge electronic and live music. The club's enduring legacy lies in its ability to catalyze collaboration among visual artists, DJs, and performers, nurturing a bohemian community that remains true to the founders’ vision. Notable artists who have performed at Rachdingue include international figures like Brian Eno, Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Francois K, and Jeff Mills, as well as respected local talents such as Sideral, Ángel Molina, and Oriol Benedet.
Other guests have included Jean-Michel Jarre, Monika Kruse, John Talabot, and the French duo Cassius, underscoring the club’s reputation as a destination for both established and emerging innovators in electronic music and the broader arts scene.
