Info

Prince of Peckham is a dynamic and culturally significant nightclub and pub located in the heart of Peckham, South London, United Kingdom. Opened in 2017, it emerged from the transformation of the historic Clayton Arms pub, a longstanding presence in the local community. The venue was reimagined by Prince of Peckham’s founder, Clement Ogbonnaya, an entrepreneur with Nigerian heritage, who sought to create an inclusive, welcoming space that celebrates the vibrancy of both Peckham’s Black British community and the area’s diverse creative energy.

Since its inception, Prince of Peckham has quickly garnered a stellar reputation as one of South London’s most beloved neighbourhood hubs, recognized for its authentic atmosphere, community focus, and its embrace of music, art, and culture from across the African diaspora and beyond. Unlike many nightclubs that wax and wane with shifting gentrification, Prince of Peckham has maintained its location at 1 Clayton Road, though it has undergone several renovations to expand its offerings, including the introduction of dedicated event spaces and a popular kitchen serving modern Caribbean cuisine. The upstairs area, known as the "Queen of Peckham," frequently hosts private parties, live performances, and community workshops, further solidifying the venue’s role as a cornerstone for local culture as well as a draw for Londoners from further afield.

Its late-night events are widely celebrated, drawing an eclectic mix of regulars and visitors alike, and it is often cited as a site where new artistic and musical talent is discovered, making it an incubator for grassroots creativity and expression within the thriving nightlife of Peckham. Notable artists who have performed at Prince of Peckham include British DJ and producer Jamz Supernova, Afrobeat legend Tony Allen, local South London rapper Ms Banks, emerging UK jazz collective Steam Down, the acclaimed DJ and broadcaster Emerald, grime MCs such as Novelist and Footsie, and international talent like the Nigerian-British songwriter Maleek Berry. The venue has also hosted club nights featuring house and afrobeat selectors such as Roska and DJ Neptizzle, as well as special appearances from local legends like Peckham’s own DJ Tash LC and acclaimed spoken word artist Sophia Thakur.
