Octan
Ibiza is a renowned nightclub located on the Spanish island of
Ibiza, acclaimed for its authentic underground vibe and devotion to electronic music culture. Originally launched under a different guise, the club inherited the site of the legendary Sankeys
Ibiza after its closure in 2018. Sankeys itself had played a pivotal role in
Ibiza’s club scene since 2011, becoming a haven for house and techno enthusiasts.
When Octan opened its doors in summer 2019, it set out to rejuvenate the spirit of underground raving on the White Isle, with a strong emphasis on immersive sound, dark, intimate interiors, and a raw, industrial aesthetic that sets it apart from more commercialized venues. The club’s structure retained many beloved features from its days as Sankeys—most notably, the famous Basement with its low ceilings and enveloping sound system—while introducing bold new artistic elements and an increased focus on visual arts and Graffiti. Octan quickly built a solid reputation among locals, seasonal workers, and discerning clubbers for its fiercely independent programming and opposition to overblown VIP culture, reinforcing
Ibiza’s historical significance as a site of free-spirited musical exploration.
In terms of location, the club has remained at its Playa d’en Bossa address but has continually evolved its internal layout with redesigned rooms and bespoke installations, keeping the environment fresh for return visitors. Octan places community and underground music at its core, hosting residencies from respected labels and artists while fostering a space for rising local talent and cutting-edge international acts.
Notable artists who have performed at Octan
Ibiza include Eats Everything, Steve Lawler, Darius Syrossian, Richy Ahmed, Apollonia, Cassy, Amine Edge & DANCE, Magnetizm, Clive Henry, Samuel Deep, Fabe, Seb Zito, and local talents such as Anna Tur and Manu Gonzalez.
