Los Globos

INFO

Los Globos is a historic nightclub located in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. Established in the 1930s, it originally operated as a Mexican restaurant and bar before evolving into one of Los Angeles’s most iconic nightlife destinations. The venue is notable for its distinctive two-story structure and neon-lit exterior, serving as a recognizable landmark for generations.
Over the decades, Los Globos has reflected the city’s diverse and ever-changing musical landscape, transitioning from Latin ballroom and salsa hotspot in the mid-20th century to a key site for disco, punk, electronic, and hip-hop scenes. The club's versatility has cemented its reputation as an inclusive space for both mainstream and underground cultures, embracing a wide range of genres from cumbia to techno. Its historic connection to the Latin and LGBTQ+ communities has contributed significantly to the local cultural fabric, making Los Globos more than just a nightclub, but rather a social and artistic hub.
Throughout its history, the venue has undergone several renovations, modernizing its interiors and sound systems while preserving much of its original architectural charm. Ownership changes in the 2010s brought new programming and upgraded facilities, expanding Los Globos’s role as a multi-room venue capable of hosting multiple events simultaneously. Despite occasional challenges from strict city regulations and shifts in the neighborhood, Los Globos has remained at its original Sunset Boulevard location, becoming one of the longest-running nightclubs in Los Angeles.
Its adaptable nature and commitment to community events, alternative music, and dance-driven parties have kept it relevant to new generations of Angelenos. Notable artists who have performed at Los Globos include international names like Skrillex, Disclosure, Diplo, and Yelle, as well as prominent local acts such as Nosaj Thing, Tokimonsta, Thee Commons (now Tropa Magica), The Gaslamp Killer, and Egyptian Lover. The venue has also played host to influential DJs like Honey Dijon and Peanut Butter Wolf, and served as an early stage for rising talents in the LA beat scene and Latinx music movements.
