Gallery is one of the United Kingdom’s most storied and influential nightclub brands, particularly known for its longstanding contributions to the electronic music scene. Established in 1995, Gallery quickly found its place as a central hub for trance and house music in London. The club originally started at Turnmills, a historic venue in Clerkenwell.
Turnmills itself was among the first UK clubs to obtain a 24-hour alcohol license, helping to reshape London’s nightlife by providing a space for all-night events and drawing a devoted crowd of music lovers throughout the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Gallery earned a reputation for championing the biggest names in progressive house and trance, becoming synonymous with cutting-edge sound, international talent, and a fiercely loyal fanbase. Its events played a vital role in shaping both club culture and the trajectories of many DJs who are now household names.
The club’s atmosphere was often celebrated as inclusive, welcoming, and liberating, making Gallery a rite of passage for serious clubbers. In 2008, the historic Turnmills venue was closed and subsequently demolished, prompting Gallery to relocate. It found a new home at the Ministry of Sound, another iconic London clubbing institution.
This change of location ensured Gallery’s legacy continued, albeit in a different space, blending its unique brand identity with Ministry’s state-of-the-art production and sound systems. Over time, Gallery has remained a critical player in the evolution of the UK electronic music scene, hosting numerous high-profile events and special anniversary parties. Its cultural significance is marked by its dedication to nurturing both established and emerging artists, as well as fostering a sense of community among clubbers.
The club night’s influence stretches well beyond its physical locations, becoming a benchmark for quality electronic music events in London and the UK. Notable artists who have performed at Gallery include Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Sasha, John Digweed, Eddie Halliwell, Sander van Doorn, Gareth Emery, Tall Paul, Sister Bliss, and Marcus Schössow, alongside a host of talented local DJs who have all contributed to the club’s rich musical heritage.
The capacity of Gallery is 400.
