Info

Electric Galway, situated at 36 Upper Abbeygate Street in the heart of Galway City, has held a distinctive place in the city's nightlife landscape since its opening in 2011. Occupying a site with a rich nightlife legacy, the venue transformed a former electronics store and a series of other incarnations into a stylish, multi-room nightclub renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, forward-thinking music programming, and eclectic crowd. Electric quickly earned a reputation as one of Galway’s premier destinations for dance music lovers and partygoers, bringing together a diverse blend of students, locals, and visitors.

Over the years, it developed a special relationship with Galway’s creative and electronic music communities, offering not just club nights but also cultural events, art exhibitions, and pop-up markets, reflecting the dynamic spirit of the city. Though the physical structure has remained largely unchanged since Electric's inception, the venue underwent a short-lived rebrand as Halo Nightclub before returning to its original identity due to popular demand. With its main dance floor, rooftop garden bar (the legendary "Garden"), and intimate club rooms, Electric became synonymous with Galway’s late-night revival, particularly after it obtained a late license allowing parties to continue into the small hours.

Its commitment to high-quality sound, engaging visuals, and an inclusive, unpretentious atmosphere made it a cultural touchstone, celebrated for keeping Galway's clubbing scene alive at a time when many other Irish small-city clubs struggled. Over the years, Electric hosted an impressive roster of both international and local talent, as well as resident DJs who championed underground sounds and community spirit. Notable artists who have graced Electric’s decks and stages include internationally acclaimed acts like Erol Alkan, Ben Klock, Or:la, The Drifter, Jasper James, Ellen Allien, and Krystal Klear, alongside celebrated Irish DJs such as KETTAMA, Colm K, Fish Go Deep, and Marcus O’Laoire.

Local collectives and promoters, including Shivers, Epoch, and Zillow, regularly curated cutting-edge lineups, while Electric’s own residents, such as Anthony Collins and the Get Down Edits crew, became beloved fixtures of the Galway club scene.
