District 8 is one of Dublin's premier electronic music venues, currently located in South Quarter, Airside Retail Park, Swords, Co. Dublin, K67 X0K8, Ireland. Originally launched in 2014, District 8 quickly distinguished itself as a central hub for electronic music fans, renowned for its high-caliber sound system, warehouse-style atmosphere, and commitment to showcasing both global and local talent.
The venue was initially situated in the Liberties area of Dublin, where it operated within the Tivoli Theatre—a site with a rich cultural history—until the building's demolition in 2019. After its closure at the original site, District 8 organizers maintained their connection with fans by hosting "District 8 presents" events at various locations, keeping the brand and its spirit alive while seeking a new permanent home. In 2021, District 8 re-emerged triumphantly at the South Quarter in Swords, boasting an expanded layout, top-notch lighting, and carefully curated lineups that echo its legendary past.
Throughout its history, District 8 has gained a formidable reputation for supporting the underground music scene in Dublin, providing a platform for up-and-coming Irish talent alongside world-class international artists. Its role in shaping the city’s nightlife and electronic music landscape cannot be overstated, making it a beloved institution and a pilgrimage site for clubbers and music lovers in Ireland and beyond. Notable artists who have performed at District 8 include international heavyweights such as Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz, Carl Cox, Dave Clarke, Amelie Lens, Dax J, Ben Klock, Len Faki, DJ Koze, Mall Grab, Honey Dijon, FJAAK, Blawan, Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, and Helena Hauff, as well as celebrated local talents like Sunil Sharpe, DeFeKT, KETTAMA, Tommy Holohan, and Cailín.
