Depot is a renowned nightclub and multi-purpose event space located in
Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. Since its inception in 2014, Depot has distinguished itself as a pioneering force in
Cardiff's nightlife and creative scene, transforming an industrial warehouse space into a vibrant hub for entertainment and culture. The venue was founded by Nick Saunders, who envisioned Depot not merely as a nightclub, but as a flexible space
where food festivals, art installations, live performances, and club nights could coexist.
This unique vision led to Depot earning a reputation not just as a club, but as one of the city's key cultural institutions, instrumental in the regeneration of
Cardiff's creative quarter. Depot initially opened in a temporary pop-up format in a disused warehouse in the Dumballs Road area before relocating to a larger, permanent venue at Williams Way,
Cardiff, around 2018. This move allowed for a significant upgrade in both size and facilities, with the new site boasting increased capacity, improved sound and lighting systems, and better amenities to accommodate large crowds and touring acts.
Over time, Depot has played host to a wide array of events, including the famous
Cardiff Street Food Circus, themed club nights such as Bingo Lingo and Bump’
n’Grind, and large-scale music events and festivals. Its commitment to fostering both local talent and major touring acts has cemented Depot’s reputation as a cutting-edge and inclusive space, drawing diverse crowds from across Wales and beyond.
Notable artists who have performed at Depot include international DJs and electronic music heavyweights like
Annie Mac,
Eats Everything,
CamelPhat,
Patrick Topping, and
Denis Sulta, as well as respected local acts such as
Sean McCabe, GRLTLK, and
Hywel Gregory.
The venue has also hosted performances and appearances from BBC Radio 1 personalities, renowned club brands like Glitterbox, and special guest sets from rising and established talents in the UK’s vibrant house, techno, drum and bass, and hip hop scenes.
