INFO

Club 69 is a renowned nightclub in Paisley, Scotland, located just outside Glasgow. Established in the early 1990s, it quickly earned a reputation as one of the country’s central hubs for underground electronic music. Housed in the basement of a Victorian tenement building at 40 New Sneddon Street, the venue’s low ceilings, dark walls, and intimate dancefloor have become legendary among dance music enthusiasts.
Club 69 originally served as an extension of the record shop and sound system run by the legendary Barrie ‘Barr’ and Jasper James’s father, DJ Harri, allowing local DJs, producers, and ravers to explore emerging styles in a raw and welcoming space. Over the decades, the club maintained its cult status as a breeding ground for innovative house, techno, and electro sounds, attracting dedicated followers from Glasgow and beyond. Renowned for its DIY ethos, lack of pretension, and inclusive atmosphere, Club 69 has played an integral role in shaping Scotland’s vibrant club culture.
It notably provided a launchpad for now-famous local talent while simultaneously hosting esteemed names from the global electronic scene. In terms of physical changes, the main Club 69 space has remained largely unaltered, preserving its original subterranean character, although the adjoining club, The Attic, was developed upstairs and sometimes hosts alternative events. The club’s enduring commitment to quality underground music and its sense of extended family have helped it weather shifts in musical taste and clubbing culture, making it a treasured rite of passage within the UK’s nightlife landscape.
Notable artists who have graced Club 69 decks include international talents like Helena Hauff, Ben Sims, Slam, and DJ Bone, alongside homegrown stars such as Jasper James, Harri & Domenic, Clouds, and Silicone Soul.
