DAVE the Drummer

Henry Cullen, better known as DAVE the Drummer, emerged from the UK’s underground techno scene in the early 1990s. Based in London, he started his musical journey as a drummer in various bands before shifting his focus to electronic music. DAVE first made waves as part of the acid techno group *The Liberators*, a collective credited with pioneering the “London Acid Techno” sound.

In 1997, DAVE the Drummer founded his influential label Hydraulix, which became synonymous with raw, driving techno. Over the years, the label carved out a global reputation for consistently delivering high-energy releases and became a platform for both his own music and emerging artists. DAVE’s relentless work ethic has seen him release dozens of EPs and singles on prominent techno imprints, solidifying his status as a prolific producer.

Famed for his pounding yet groovy sets, DAVE the Drummer’s DJ career has taken him around the world, from the sweat-soaked clubs of Berlin to the iconic free parties and festivals across Europe and beyond. His productions and live shows are celebrated for blending the darker, old-school power of early UK rave with the precision and dynamism of modern techno. Through decades of contributions, collaborations, and innovation, DAVE the Drummer remains a leading figure in the techno scene, inspiring a new generation of producers while continuing to push boundaries with his energetic sound.
