Info

Nestled within the vibrant city of Antwerp, Belgium, Cafe Kamyon has carved out a unique niche in the electronic music scene since its inception in 2015. The story of Cafe Kamyon began when De Zomer Van Antwerpen approached the Royal Antwerp Water Sports Association (SRNA) with a request to host a theatre performance on the shipyard's premises. The board consented, paving the way for a bar that would allow visitors to enjoy a drink before and after the performances.

The initial theatrical production centered on the theme of refugees and took place within a shipping container on the shipyard, lending the venue its distinctive name, "Kamyon," which means "truck" in Turkish, symbolizing both mobility and the transport of stories. Originally aligned with the rhythm of Zomer Van Antwerpen's theatre offerings, Cafe Kamyon embarked on its independent journey in 2018, evolving into a dynamic cultural hub. This transformation was driven by a commitment to accessibility and community engagement, with an emphasis on ensuring that culture remains approachable for everyone.

True to its ethos, Cafe Kamyon hosts free events, offers reasonably priced food and beverages, and actively involves visitors, artists, and local organizations in shaping its eclectic program. This inclusive and collaborative spirit has cemented Cafe Kamyon's reputation as a welcoming space where diversity and creativity flourish. Over the years, Cafe Kamyon has become a cherished landmark in Antwerp's cultural landscape, attracting a diverse array of artists and audiences alike.

Its open-air setting and vibrant atmosphere provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable performances that celebrate the rich tapestry of electronic music. The venue's commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and artistic freedom has drawn numerous notable artists to its stage, further enhancing its cultural significance within the city and beyond. Notable artists who have performed here include Antares, Mogus, Chipo Chipo, Thomas Gambino, and GIORGIO (IT).
