Café Berlín is a renowned nightclub and live music venue located in Madrid, Spain, with a rich history that has contributed significantly to the city’s vibrant nightlife and cultural landscape. Originally founded in the late 1970s, Café Berlín was created during a period of social and artistic transformation in Madrid known as the "Movida Madrileña," a post-Franco cultural renaissance. The club quickly established itself as a melting pot for musicians, artists, and bohemians, gaining a reputation for its eclectic programming and open-minded atmosphere.

Over the decades, Café Berlín became particularly known for its commitment to high-quality live music, spanning jazz, soul, funk, flamenco, Latin rhythms, and emerging electronic genres. In 2016, after nearly four decades on Costanilla de los Ángeles, the original venue closed its doors, but due to public demand and cultural importance, it reopened shortly afterwards in a new, larger, and more versatile space on Costanilla de los Ángeles 20, just a few meters from Gran Vía. This relocation allowed Café Berlín to modernize its facilities, improve acoustics, and accommodate a wider array of performances, reinforcing its position as a flagship for live music in Madrid.

The club is celebrated not only for its late-night parties and legendary jam sessions but also for its essential role in nurturing local talent and serving as a prestigious stage for both established and emerging artists. Notable artists who have performed at Café Berlín include international figures such as Madeleine Peyroux, Bill Evans, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Oumou Sangaré, as well as iconic Spanish musicians like Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, and Marlango. The venue has also welcomed local heroes such as Zenet, Niño Josele, La Shica, and artists from the newer wave of flamenco-jazz and fusion scenes, solidifying its reputation as a cornerstone of Madrid’s live music ecosystem.
