The Board of Works

The Board of Works is an interdisciplinary artists’ collective based in Ireland, renowned for their provocative explorations of public space, governance, and historical memory. Formed in 2014, the group’s practice spans installation, social intervention, and site-specific performance, frequently engaging with overlooked or contested sites throughout Irish landscapes. Drawing inspiration from the architectural and bureaucratic legacy of Ireland’s Office of Public Works, The Board of Works interrogates institutional narratives through research-driven projects that blend humor, criticality, and community participation.

Their work has been exhibited in leading Irish and international venues, and they are celebrated for forging collaborations with local historians, civil servants, and everyday citizens to highlight the interplay between power, place, and collective identity.
