Steve Cobby

Steve Cobby is a British musician, composer, producer, and DJ based in Kingston upon Hull, England. Renowned for his innovative approach to electronic music, he first gained widespread recognition as one half of the influential duo Fila Brazillia, whose eclectic, genre-blurring soundscapes impacted downtempo, electronica, and chillout music throughout the 1990s and 2000s. With a career spanning over three decades, Cobby’s work extends across a wide array of projects and collaborations, including releases under solo aliases such as The Solid Doctor and J J Fuchs, as well as partnerships in outfits like Heights of Abraham and The Cutler.

Famed for fusing organic instrumentation with lush electronics, his productions are celebrated for their playful inventiveness, rich textures, and emotive atmospheres, traversing funk, dub, trip-hop, and house. Beyond the studio, Cobby has a reputation for dynamic live performances and DJ sets, and he has contributed remixes for notable artists such as Radiohead, Busta Rhymes, and Moloko.
