Sam Kitt

Sam Kitt is a contemporary multimedia artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, identity, and the natural landscape. Born in 1987 in Portland, Oregon, Kitt grew up surrounded by the Pacific Northwest’s rugged coastlines and dense forests, which continue to inform their visual language. After receiving a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2010, Kitt moved to Brooklyn, New York, where they developed a distinctive practice blending painting, digital collage, and found objects.

Their works are marked by intricate layering, subtle references to ecological cycles, and a tactile engagement with materials. Kitt has exhibited widely in both solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe, most notably at the Whitney Museum of American Art’s emerging artists program and at London’s Saatchi Gallery. Their art has been featured in publications such as Artforum and Juxtapoz, and is included in several private and public collections.

Kitt currently divides their time between New York and a remote studio on the Oregon coast, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic experimentation while engaging with themes of transience and connection.
