Mumdance

Mumdance, born Jack Adams, is a pioneering DJ and producer from London known for his genre-blurring approach to electronic music. Emerging in the late 2000s, he first gained attention with his energetic, grime-influenced productions and innovative mixtapes merging grime, UK hardcore, techno, and experimental sounds. Following collaborations with artists like Wiley, Logos, and Novelist, Mumdance established himself as a leading figure on the UK underground circuit.

His partnership with producer Logos brought about the influential “weightless” sound—stripping grime and club music back to skeletal, ambient frameworks. This concept materialized in their critically acclaimed album “Proto” (2015) and extended through their shared label, Different Circles, which spotlighted forward-thinking club music from across the globe. Mumdance’s DJ sets are recognized for their unpredictability, traversing tempos and genres while maintaining a distinct sonic identity.

Renowned for curating the Fabriclive 80 mix and his own Mumcast podcast series, he continued challenging club norms with inventive live performances and radio shows. Despite a self-imposed hiatus in 2019, Adams returned to music in 2022, reaffirming his reputation as a restless innovator within contemporary electronic music.
