Julian Mesa

Julian Mesa is a multidisciplinary artist known for his evocative explorations of memory, identity, and place. Born in 1992 in Bogotá, Colombia, Mesa’s practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation, seamlessly blending traditional techniques with contemporary approaches. His work often references the landscapes and urban environments of his native Colombia, infusing them with surreal and symbolic elements to probe ideas of nostalgia and cultural transformation.

After receiving a BFA from Universidad de los Andes, Mesa has exhibited widely throughout Latin America and internationally, garnering recognition for his thoughtful engagement with themes of migration, displacement, and belonging. Through richly layered textures and nuanced color palettes, he invites viewers to navigate the liminal spaces between past and present, personal and collective histories, forging a poetic dialogue that resonates across geographical and emotional boundaries.
