Jon Hester

Born in Minneapolis and now based in Berlin, Jon Hester's journey through electronic music spans decades and continents. Growing up in the American Midwest, he was shaped by the region’s renowned underground techno and house scenes, regularly attending legendary events in Chicago and Detroit while DJing locally since the 1990s. Relocating to Chicago and later Minneapolis, he honed his craft both behind the decks and on dancefloors, developing a distinctive approach to DJing, known for weaving together deep, hypnotic grooves with energetic, physical mixing.

Hester’s transition to Berlin catalyzed his production career, launching releases on high-profile labels such as Len Faki’s Figure, Rekids, Dystopian, and LET Recordings. His music is marked by propulsive rhythms, futuristic soundscapes, and an infectious sense of movement, appealing directly to the vibe of late-night dancefloors. His acclaimed Figure SPC H series established his reputation, and later works like the "Converge EP" further showcased his versatility, encompassing deep, melodic explorations and tougher, industrial-tinged tracks.

As a DJ, Hester earned residencies and international gigs, bringing his energetic selections to clubs like Berghain/Panorama Bar, Fabric, and Concrete, as well as festivals across Europe and beyond. Offstage, Hester is also recognized for his photography and video work, reflecting the same kinetic flow and attention to sensory detail present in his music. Whether in the studio, behind the decks, or through his lens, Jon Hester’s artistry remains rooted in movement, connection, and a lifelong dedication to techno culture.
