Hildur Guðnadóttir

Hildur Guðnadóttir is an acclaimed Icelandic composer, cellist, and singer known for her evocative and innovative approach to music across film, television, and contemporary classical performance. Born in Reykjavík in 1982 into a musical family, Hildur demonstrated prodigious talent from a young age, studying cello at the Reykjavik Music Academy before further honing her skills in Berlin. Her collaborations with experimental groups such as múm and Pan Sonic established her reputation within avant-garde circles, and she released several critically lauded solo albums characterized by intensely personal sonic landscapes.

Hildur achieved international recognition for her haunting and atmospheric film scores, notably winning the Academy Award, Grammy, and BAFTA for her celebrated composition for the 2019 film "Joker." She also earned widespread acclaim for her stark, immersive score for the hit HBO miniseries "Chernobyl," which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition. Hildur’s work often blurs the boundaries between classical, electronic, and ambient music, marked by a signature blend of emotional depth and experimental textures, solidifying her as one of the most influential composers of her generation.
