Guy Mac

Guy Mac is a contemporary visual artist known for his evocative explorations of memory, landscape, and identity through mixed media painting and found-object sculpture. Born in 1981 in Halifax, Canada, Mac grew up on the rugged Atlantic coast, an environment that deeply informs the textures and muted palettes of his work. He studied Fine Art at NSCAD University, graduating with honours, and continued his education with residencies in Berlin and New York, where he developed a fascination for urban decay and the stories embedded in discarded materials.

Mac’s practice blends traditional painting techniques with unconventional layering of organic and industrial elements, resulting in pieces that invite viewers to reflect on the intersection between the natural world and human intervention. With numerous solo exhibitions across Canada, Europe, and the United States, his work has been featured in major art publications and is held in private and public collections internationally.
