Felix Kubin

Felix Kubin is a German composer, musician, curator, and radio-play producer known for his eclectic and innovative contributions to electronic and experimental music. Born in Hamburg in 1969, Kubin began creating music at an early age, forming his first band, Die Egozentrischen 2, as a teenager and experimenting with tape recorders and synthesisers. Deeply influenced by genres ranging from Neue Deutsche Welle and science fiction soundtracks to avant-garde classical and dadaist theatre, Kubin’s works bridge playful futurism with dystopian surrealism.

Since the 1990s, he has released solo albums and collaborative projects on labels such as Gagarin Records, the imprint he founded in 1998, drawing acclaim for his energetic live performances and unique blend of retro electronics, spoken word, and cinematic sound. Beyond his musical output, Kubin is distinguished by his fascination with radio art, having produced a wide array of experimental radio plays, audio works, and sound collages for major broadcasters across Europe. His multidisciplinary activities extend into visual arts, pedagogy, and curatorial work, making him a central figure in contemporary experimental culture and an inspiration to new generations exploring the boundaries of sound and media.
