David Melo

David Melo is a contemporary visual artist known for his evocative mixed-media works that seamlessly blend painting, sculpture, and digital processes. Born in 1987 in São Paulo, Brazil, Melo draws inspiration from urban landscapes, personal memories, and the dynamic interplay of light and shadow characteristic of his hometown. After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of São Paulo in 2010, he participated in several artist residencies across Latin America and Europe, experiences that greatly influenced his use of texture and experimental materials.

Melo’s work often explores themes of identity, transformation, and the passage of time, inviting viewers to engage with both the visible and the hidden layers within each piece. His art has been exhibited in solo and group shows internationally, including galleries in Berlin, New York, and Buenos Aires, and is held in private and public collections. Melo continues to live and work in São Paulo, where he is active in local arts education and community-building initiatives.
