David Holmes

David Holmes is a Belfast-born DJ, composer, and producer whose sonic explorations have significantly influenced the landscape of electronic music, film scores, and alternative rock. Emerging from Northern Ireland’s vibrant club scene in the late 1980s, Holmes first gained recognition for his innovative DJ sets, which blended acid house, techno, and rare grooves, often at his celebrated Sugar Sweet club nights. By the mid-1990s, Holmes had established himself as an adventurous solo artist with albums like "This Film's Crap Let's Slash the Seats" (1995) and "Let's Get Killed" (1997), both marked by cinematic flair, eclectic sampling, and gritty urban atmospheres.

His love of movie soundtracks and storytelling found perfect expression when Hollywood came calling—Holmes composed the stylish, genre-bending scores for Steven Soderbergh’s "Out of Sight" and the entire "Ocean’s Eleven" trilogy, earning acclaim for his ability to blur the lines between pop, jazz, funk, and electronica. Alongside his soundtrack work, Holmes produced and remixed tracks for artists including Primal Scream, U2, and Noel Gallagher, while his project Unloved (with Keefus Ciancia and Jade Vincent) brought haunting, noirish pop to a new generation—most notably as the theme and soundtrack for the award-winning BBC drama "Killing Eve." With a career spanning three decades, Holmes remains a restless innovator, fearlessly blending genres and influences while shaping the soundtracks to both club nights and cinematic moments around the globe.
