Bobby Harvey

Bobby Harvey is a contemporary visual artist whose work blurs the boundaries between abstraction and realism, drawing inspiration from urban environments, personal memory, and the play of light and color. Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1983, Harvey developed an early interest in painting and mixed media, immersing himself in the vibrant street art scene while studying fine arts at Wayne State University. His signature style fuses bold brushwork with layered textures, exploring themes of identity, transformation, and resilience.

After moving to Chicago in 2010, Harvey’s career accelerated with exhibitions at notable galleries such as the Hyde Park Art Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. His work is held in both private and public collections, and he has received several fellowships, including the MacDowell Colony Residency. In addition to his studio practice, Harvey is committed to arts education, frequently leading community workshops and mentoring emerging artists.

His recent projects experiment with recycled materials, reflecting his ongoing commitment to sustainability and social engagement through art.
