λ (Anonymous Function) is a conceptual and digital artist based in the Netherlands, whose work interrogates the intersections of mathematics, code, and contemporary art. Remaining publicly anonymous, λ deploys the language of computational processes and systems theory to explore themes of identity, authorship, and the politics of networks. Since emerging on the international art scene in 2021, λ has exhibited works in major galleries across Europe, captivating audiences with immersive installations, generative visuals, and performative code events.
Their practice is characterized by a minimalist aesthetic, often employing algorithmically-derived forms that challenge viewers’ perceptions of artistic creation and agency in the digital age. λ’s projects frequently blur the lines between artist and audience, inviting participation while maintaining an enigmatic presence that foregrounds the work over the individual. Drawing upon influences as diverse as Dutch conceptualism, early computer art, and free software movements, λ continues to push the boundaries of what it means to create — and to be — in an era of information.
