Aegis is a pioneering Filipino pop rock band formed in 1995, renowned for their distinct blend of powerful vocals, emotive storytelling, and infectious melodies. Originally performing under the name AG's Soundtrippers, the group was discovered while playing in clubs across Japan before being rebranded as Aegis after signing with Alpha Records in the Philippines. The core lineup includes vocal powerhouse sisters Juliet, Mercy, and Ken Sunot, alongside Rey Abenoja (guitar/vocals), Rowena Pinpin (keyboards), Stella Pabico (bass), and Vilma Goloviogo (drums).
Aegis catapulted to fame with their debut album "Halik," which produced timeless classics such as “Halik,” “Luha,” and “Basang Basa Sa Ulan.” Their heartfelt, emotionally charged songs—often centered on themes of heartbreak and resilience—resonate strongly with listeners across generations and social backgrounds. Notably, Aegis’ unique sound fuses Filipino balladry with driving rock influences, showcased by the signature wailing vocals of the Sunot sisters.
Their artistry and authenticity have endowed them with a devoted fanbase not only in the Philippines, but throughout the Filipino diaspora. Beyond record sales, Aegis continues to inspire and entertain audiences via sold-out concerts, television appearances, and collaborations, most notably with the hit jukebox musical “Rak of Aegis,” which cemented their influence on contemporary Filipino pop culture. Over the decades, Aegis has remained indomitable in the local music industry, celebrated for their enduring impact, emotional honesty, and unyielding passion for their craft.
