Yaeji

Born Kathy Yaeji Lee in New York City to Korean parents, Yaeji spent her childhood moving between the United States, South Korea, and Japan. Exposed to a blend of cultures and languages, she began experimenting with music production while studying at Carnegie Mellon University, quickly gaining recognition for her dreamy, genre-blurring blend of house, hip-hop, and pop. Singing in both Korean and English, Yaeji’s intimate lyrics and understated vocals became hallmarks of her sound.

Her 2017 self-titled EP and subsequent release, **EP2**, garnered critical acclaim for their innovative approach to club music, combining soft, floating melodies with sleek house beats. The singles “Drink I’m Sippin On” and “Raingurl” catapulted her to international attention, establishing Yaeji as a vital voice in both underground and mainstream electronic scenes. Beyond her own releases, she has remixed artists like Charli XCX and Robyn, and collaborated with musicians including Omar Apollo and OHHYUK.

In 2020, Yaeji released **WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던**, her first full-length mixtape, celebrated for its eclectic, DIY charm and introspective storytelling. A visual artist and DJ as well, Yaeji brings a multidisciplinary approach to her music, often directing her own videos and designing her stage visuals. Widely praised for her barrier-breaking music and authenticity, Yaeji continues to influence and inspire a new generation of artists across the globe.
