Westbam

Westbam, born Maximilian Lenz in Münster, Germany in 1965, is a pioneering figure in the electronic music scene and one of Germany’s most influential DJs and producers. Beginning his career in the early 1980s, he quickly became known for his innovative mixing style and bold experimentation with techno, house, and breakbeat genres. Westbam was instrumental in establishing Berlin’s club culture, co-founding the legendary Mayday Festival and the influential record label Low Spirit Recordings alongside his partner Klaus Jankuhn.

Renowned for his dynamic DJ sets and prolific output, Westbam’s productions include milestone tracks like “Celebration Generation,” “Wizards of the Sonic,” and numerous collaborations with other major electronic artists. His commitment to the evolution of dance music has made him both a cult figure and a generational bridge in the German and international club scenes, while his thought leadership and writing on DJ culture have contributed to the broader narrative of electronic music’s evolution.
