VMO is a boundary-pushing collective whose multidisciplinary practice fuses visual art, sound design, and performance to interrogate the intersections of technology, identity, and urban experience. Formed in 2018 by lead artist Mika Vanhill and a rotating assembly of international collaborators, VMO quickly gained attention with immersive installations that blend kinetic sculpture, digital projections, and experimental audio landscapes. Drawing on backgrounds in architecture, code, and contemporary dance, the group’s work channels longstanding fascinations with surveillance, artificial intelligence, and the fragmented narratives of modern city life.
VMO’s projects have been exhibited in major venues across Europe and Asia, including the Haus der Kunst Munich and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, while their performance pieces have been featured at cutting-edge festivals such as Sonar+ and Ars Electronica. Continuously evolving, VMO is recognized for their bold collaborations, community workshops, and a commitment to shaping new dialogues around art, technology, and the senses in the 21st century.
