Uaimh na gCat

Uaimh na gCat is an experimental sound artist collective hailing from Ireland, whose name means "Cave of the Cats" in Irish, evoking the ancient mythos and folklore of their homeland. Steeped in a fascination with liminality, ritual, and the echoes of a pre-modern Ireland, their work layers field recordings, drone, and manipulated acoustic instruments with fragmented vocal invocations, creating immersive audio experiences that blur the boundaries between past and present. Drawing inspiration from sacred sites, megalithic landscapes, and the Gaelic language, Uaimh na gCat crafts compositions informed by oral tradition, animism, and the mysterious qualities of Ireland’s underground terrain.

Since forming in 2018, the collective has performed in site-specific installations deep within rural cave systems as well as contemporary galleries, weaving myth, memory, and sound into haunting meditations on identity, memory, and place.
