SORAYA*

SORAYA* is a multidisciplinary artist whose work navigates the intersections of memory, displacement, and identity, weaving personal narrative with broader cultural histories. Born in Tehran and currently based between Berlin and New York, she draws from a nomadic upbringing to inform her visual language, creating installations, performances, and mixed-media pieces that combine archival research, traditional craft, and new media. SORAYA*’s practice often explores themes of migration, hybridity, and the ephemeral nature of belonging, using tactile materials and immersive environments to evoke both intimacy and dislocation.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in institutions such as the Hamburger Bahnhof, Queens Museum, and the Sharjah Art Foundation, and she has participated in numerous residencies including the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture and the Delfina Foundation. Through her art, SORAYA* invites audiences to question fixed notions of home and identity while engaging the senses and the collective imaginary.
