SANA

SANA is a contemporary visual artist known for her evocative exploration of identity, memory, and cultural hybridity through a multidisciplinary practice that spans painting, installation, and digital media. Born in 1991 in Mumbai, India, and currently based in Berlin, SANA draws inspiration from her bicultural upbringing and her experiences navigating transnational spaces. Her work frequently interrogates the tensions between personal history and collective narratives, blending imagery from South Asian folklore, family archives, and urban landscapes.

SANA’s vibrant palette and layered techniques create immersive environments that invite viewers to reconsider the boundaries between tradition and modernity. Since completing her MFA at the Universität der Künste Berlin in 2018, she has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and North America, including shows at the Kunsthalle Wien, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, and the Tate Modern’s community project spaces. Her art has been featured in publications such as Artforum and Frieze, and she is the recipient of several international awards and residencies, including the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program Fellowship.

Through her practice, SANA continues to question concepts of belonging and the mutable nature of home in an increasingly globalized world.
