SAMA (Street Art Museum Amsterdam) is a pioneering collective based in the Netherlands, dedicated to the curation, production, and promotion of street art and public art installations throughout Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Established in 2012, SAMA was conceived as a grassroots initiative with the goal of fostering dialogue, connectivity, and cultural exchange through the medium of urban art. Bringing together an array of Dutch and international artists, SAMA has transformed the area into a dynamic, open-air museum featuring more than 300 murals and public artworks.
The collective’s approach is characterized by community engagement, participatory art projects, and a strong emphasis on social issues, diversity, and inclusion. SAMA's projects transcend traditional boundaries of art institutions, inviting residents and visitors alike to experience contemporary art in everyday public spaces. Over the years, their collaborations with renowned street artists such as Stinkfish, El Pez, and Ox-Alien, alongside emerging talents, have positioned SAMA as a key player in the global street art movement.
Their innovative work in preserving and mapping urban art, as well as in education and advocacy, underscores the unique identity and vibrant spirit of Amsterdam’s neighborhoods.
